The members behind HRFRs Facebook page decided to start something new and have a “Weekly Apparatus Spotlight” Every week we will highlight a piece of apparatus we have.

This weeks Apparatus Spotlight will feature Squad 65, the squad is housed at District 6 (McConnelstown). The Squad is a 1998 E-One with a 1500 gallon per minute pump and holds 750 gallons of water. It is also equipped with a huge selection of rescue equipment, featuring a full Genesis hydraulic system. The Squad also has a various selection of firefighting equipment. This unit responds first out to any motor vehicle accident in our coverage area as well as mutual aid for various call types.

Today at 1144 Dept. 65 and Rescue 10 were dispatched to Shadyside Avenue at East House on the Campus of Juniata College for a reported dumpster fire. Chief 65 (G. Garner) went direct. As Engine 65-1 and 65-2 were just going responding Chief 65 reported the fire to be out and placed the 65-5 box in service.

Huntingdon Regional Fire & Rescue

On 01/18 at 1147 Dept 65 and EMS 500 were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Fairgrounds Road and Route 26. Chief Engineer 65 (B. Everhart) was on scene reporting car vs 18 wheeler with one patient requesting evaluation. Squad 65 and Special Unit 65 went responding simultaneously with Captain 65-6 (J. Fagan) in command, the Squad handled traffic control on Route 26 and the Special Unit diverted traffic off Fairgrounds Road onto Station Road. Units went available around 1233.
